Getting Help

If you are experiencing a mental health issue such as a mood  or anxiety disorder, it is not your fault. You did not to anything to cause it. It is important that you reach out to a trusted adult for help. Examples include:
  • Parent or Caregiver
  • Other Family Member
  • Teacher
  • Guidance Counselor
  • Therapist
  • Coach

You might need therapy and/or medication to help you.  It is important to reach out to a trusted adult to help you.  If the person you ask doesn't understand or know what to do, ask another trusted adult.

Asking for help is the bravest thing you can do and the first step in getting better.

Many parents may not know the signs of mental illness, but talking to them about how you are feeling may motivate them to look for help.

If your parent(s) or guardian are abusive in any way, or if they have their own issues that makes it difficult for them to take care of you, talk to another adult you trust. This person can either help you talk to your parents or help you get the support you need.
